Bite Beauty Lip Lab Los Angeles Bespoke Cruelty Free Lipstick
A couple days ago, I was invited, along with other Los Angeles beauty editors, to visit a magical place…a place where you can make your own custom cruelty free lipstick!! Until now Bite Beauty Labs were only in New York, San Francisco and Toronto, but I’m excited to announce there is now a new Bite Beauty Lab in Los Angeles!
Most of you are probably familiar with Bite Beauty – they are the ones that make those agave lip scrubs, and a line of beautiful lipsticks, liners, crayons, glosses and more. If you haven’t tried them yet, get your booty over to a Sephora, forthwith!
But listen – here’s why I’m REALLY excited about the Lip Lab… If you have a NON-cruelty-free lipstick that you love and can’t find a dupe for, just bring it in to the lab and see if you can match it! After they mix up the color for you, they will keep the recipe on file and you can purchase it again anytime! The Bite lipsticks are highly pigmented and very moisturizing. They come in several finishes and scents.
Anywho…I was excited to go experience the Bite Beauty Lip Lab in Larchmont for myself, to make a couple of my own bespoke lipsticks! Josh helped me blend up my first creation, which was a peachy pink shade that I plan to wear to my wedding in a couple months. It was pretty easy to mix up a perfect nude with my choice of finish (matte) that went well with my complexion. Then I even got to engrave it with my wedding date (10/21) and add a custom fragrance (I chose mint and citrus mango because my fiancé will love that scent).
The second color I picked was a cool fuchsia pink. If I’m going to get a nude, I also want to go in a different direction and get something really fun! For that one, I engraved it with My Beauty Bunny’s initials (MBB) and I chose a violet + mint scent (which I LOVE!). The color I ended up with is actually pretty close to one of Bite’s regular shades called Dragonfruit. I think mine is a hair cooler and darker.
After we picked the colors, tried them on, and made sure I was happy with them, Josh poured the pigments into the mold, froze them for a few minutes, and then popped them out into the lipstick tubes! It was really fun to watch, and hopefully you guys saw the videos in my Instagram stories.
Bite Beauty also sent me on my way with several lip products, which I have swatched for you guys.
Top two liquid lipsticks – Chiffonade and Yucca
Three glosses left side middle row – French Press, Vanilla Latte, Dirty Chai
Three lipsticks right side middle row – Saffron Fire, Chai, Crushed Chili
My bespoke lipsticks left side bottom row – MBB and 10/21
Three lip crayons right side bottom row – Black Truffle, Sugarcane (the perfect liner to go with my bespoke nude!), Glace
They also gave me a sample set of their amazing agave lip care products, including the Agave Lip Balm, Agave Lip Scrub and give Agave Lip Masks (natural, champagne, smashed, maple and lavender). These tinted lip masks are perfect for my low thyroid-induced SUPER dried and chapped lips! The new Lavender lip mask has a relaxing lavender scent for nighttime, and it also has a purple cast which can make your teeth look whiter!
Anyone can walk in and get their own custom lipsticks at the Bite Beauty Lip Lab! I would recommend getting an appointment if possible just to make sure there’s no wait – they do get busy from what I hear. The cost for two bespoke lipsticks (that you create) is $150. You can also choose a color that is pre-mixed along with your choice of finish and and scent for $55 (or two for $80). They even do private events, which would make a really fun graduation or bachelorette party!
